Executive Headteacher of a School in Kent

We have been delighted with the quality of service that we have received from UTeach, teacher recruitment agency, this year. We have appointed some outstanding candidates in English and mathematics, particularly from Eire. In our experience these are well qualified, newly qualified teachers, who have many skills that can be developed, some colleagues who joined us some years ago are now regularly rated as "outstanding".

UTeach go well beyond the normal recruitment service in that they provide a point of contact for newly appointed teachers and help them to settle into their new posts.

I can highly recommend them.

Head of School in Kent

In March 2009 I contacted Uteach in order to be able to make a visit to Ireland to recruit maths and English teachers.  King Ethelbert School is a Nationally Challenged school.  The previous year we had 14% 5+A*-C including English and maths and part of the problem was the inability to find good staff in these core subjects.

The trip to Ireland was hugely successful.  I spoke to many Irish teachers, giving them a chance to learn a bit more about our school and me a chance to have a pre-interview.  Over 35 prospective teachers in a couple of days was an excellent field to choose from.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Ireland which was well organised and managed by Uteach and was entertaining and relaxing as well as very profitable.  Kathleen and Clare were delightful hosts and I made several networks with staff from other parts of the country with whom I am still in contact for mutual support.

The follow up to the Irish trip was also excellent. We interviewed 3 mathematicians and 4 English teachers and all 7 were of a high quality.  When one of the original maths teachers we chose in Ireland dropped out, Kathleen and Uteach provided us with a replacement – one who she felt would match the needs of the teacher and the school – he was actually the man we employed!

We employed our maths and English teachers in May/June of 2009.  This gave them a chance to settle in before September and find places to live locally.  They were an immediate success and took examination revision classes immediately.

We were delighted that we were the national challenge school that has made the most progress in Kent during 2009-2010 as our results that year were 34% 5+A*-C including English and maths, a rise of 20%.  I feel that Kathleen was part of the team that helped make this happen.  She was interested, helpful, enthusiastic and really helped us find teachers who fitted in immediately and matched the school’s needs.  I did send an email to Uteach as soon as we received our results to thank them for the help and support they had provided.

Our Irish teachers are a huge success – so much so that our local paper did a story about them.  I would not hesitate to recommend Uteach as an excellent, helpful, efficient and thoughtful teaching recruitment agency.
